Rural Development Plans for Counties Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon

Momentum Consulting led the development of Rural Development Plans for Counties Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon assisting the Integrated Development Companies to define, articulate and agree blueprints for investment in the rural economy until 2013. The plans involved extensive community and stakeholder consultations and facilitation workshops. On November 4th 2008, the plans were approved by Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív TD levering significant resources for each county:-

Source – Developing Rural Creativity

Momentum Consulting developed a three year plan to develop the creative industries sector in Leitrim, North Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim under the brand Source – Developing Rural Creativity. This document has been recognised as a beat practice example of stimulating an under developed sector. Momentum’s plan levered €1,047,920 funding from INTERREG IIIA, International Fund for Ireland, and LEADER Action II Transnational Programme and achieved the following independently assessed outputs:-

• 25 new creative businesses established
• 80 new jobs created within the regional creative industries sector
• 167 rural creative businesses assisted through mentoring
• 345 people trained in creative industry specific topics
• 3 regional infrastructure workspace

Scottish Executive and Hall Aitken Economic Development Consultants

Report on EU structural fund administration options for Scotland for clients Scottish Executive and Hall Aitken Economic Development Consultants. This report explored ESF and ERDF funding administration systems in Ireland, England, Spain and Germany. Momentum Consulting was responsible for the Irish study. By summarising and comparing the key elements of each it aims to identify issues and lessons that may be useful in considering future options for administering the funds in Scotland. It concluded with an outline of potential options for Scotland and pointed to criteria to use in deciding on the way forward.
